JTEKT at the IAA Frankfurt 2015

The International Frankfurt Motor Show (IAA) is the world's most comprehensive show of the automotive industry for everybody who develops, manufactures or uses passenger cars. A special feature is the large presence of suppliers throughout the whole automotive value added chain. Around 400 exhibitors from the supply industry are presenting their products.

This year JTEKT showed a “skeleton” version of the new Toyota Mirai, the world’s first serial (volume) production fuel cell powered passenger car on the road. The Toyota Mirai for which serial production started end of 2014 in Japan, features several JTEKT systems and components, including the steering system, several bearings (for wheel, transmission and differential) and a valve & regulator, specifically developed by JTEKT together with Toyota, to manage the high pressure hydrogen, which is the “fuel” for the fuel cell unit.

The Mirai skeleton attracted a lot of attention from professionals visiting the JTEKT booth and fueled interesting discussions about the fuel cell technology, specifically, and the future of mobility, in general.

FAQ
