What is a cylindrical roller bearing?

Cylindrical roller bearings have high radial-load capacity and moderate thrust loads. They contain rollers which are cylindrically-shaped, but are not true cylinders. Instead, these rollers are crowned or end-relieved to reduce stress concentrations. This geometry results in low friction and allows for high-speed applications. What is a needle roller bearing?

A needle roller bearing is a very compact bearing which uses cylindrical rollers. They are an economical alternative for applications requiring minimal space to carry a given load at a desired speed. They can be an ideal choice because of their ability to handle a given level of speed and load capacity, yet have the smallest cross section of all roller bearing types. For more information please click here “Products

What are Koyo EXSEV bearings?

The Ceramic and EXSEV Bearings are designed for applications operating in extreme special environments where conventional bearings are not suitable for. These bearings have an optimal operation in extreme environments like clean, vacuum, high temperature, corrosive and contaminating conditions. They are already being used in an extensive range of applications and state of the art technologies. For more information please click here “Products

What is a ball bearing unit?

Ball bearing units consists of pre-lubricated sealed ball bearings and a housing which varies in shape. They are capable of aligning themselves efficiently using the spherical fitting surface between the bearing and housing, effectively preventing overloads due to misalignment. What is a bearing?

A bearing is a moving device that supports rotational movement between a stationary part and a rotating part. There are several types of bearings like slide, magnetic and rolling bearings. Koyo bearings are “Rolling Bearings” Rolling bearings have a long service life, high interchangeability and is power saving. The rolling elements of the bearings are assembled between inner and outer rings with or without cage. With this structure, a smooth rolling motion can be realized during operation. The great advantages of rolling bearings are: Low starting friction Ability to support both radial and thrust load and high speed rotation Easy to handle and maintained Interchangeable and easy acquirement (global normalization & standardization) Can operate in extreme environments (high and low temperatures) Simple methods of grease lubrication Bearings are critical elements in all types of machinery and products. You can find them for example in automobiles, airplanes, home appliances but also in...

What is a spherical roller bearing?

Spherical roller bearings feature a large load rating and self-aligning capability. This type of bearing is suitable for low- or medium speed applications which involve heavy or impact loading. Spherical roller bearings are self-aligning, double-row, combination radial and thrust bearings. They use a spherical or crowned roller as the rolling element. The outer ring contains a spherical race which allows for some misalignment of the shaft and housing. Spherical roller bearings are unequalled in their capacity for high loads and tolerance to shock loads, but have limited speed capabilities. They perform consistently, even under conditions of extreme speed, application-specific stress, and marginal lubrication. The cage of a spherical roller bearing provides high dimensional accuracy and functionality. According to some estimates, spherical roller bearings have twice the running life of conventional bearings. For more information please click here “...

What is a tapered roller bearing?

A tapered roller bearing is a bearing in which tapered rollers (truncated conical rollers) are inserted between the cup (outer ring) and cone (inner ring). The rollers are guided by the cone back face rib. They have high radial and axial (thrust) load capacities at low to intermediate speeds. Taper roller bearings are available in single-row, two-row and four-row designs. With single-row bearings, the thrust load capacity is about 60% of the radial capacity. Double-row bearings have a greater radial load capacity and can handle thrust loads from both directions. The rollers can be configured so that the contact lines to the races converge or diverge towards the axis of rotation. Diverging double-row bearings increase the rigidity of the shaft mounting, but converging bearings do not. Other configurations for double-row bearings feature a single outer ring and two inner rings, or two outer rings and a single inner ring. Four-row tapered roller bearings consist of four rows of...

What is a thrust ball bearing?

Thrust ball bearings are divided into single and double direction types. The former is able to accommodate axial load in one direction, while the latter is able to accommodate it in both directions. Neither is suitable for applications that involve radial load or high-speed rotation. This type of bearing is commonly used in automotive, aerospace and marine applicationsFor more information please click here “Products

What is an angular contact ball bearing?

An angular contact ball bearing uses axially asymmetric races. An axial load passes in a straight line through the bearing, whereas a radial load takes an oblique path that tends to want to separate the races axially. So the angle of contact on the inner race is the same as that on the outer race. Angular contact bearings better support "combined loads" (loading in both the radial and axial directions) and the contact angle of the bearing should be matched to the relative proportions of each. The larger the contact angle (typically in the range 10 to 45 degrees), the higher the axial load supported, but the lower the radial load. In high speed applications, such as turbines, jet engines, and dentistry equipment, the centrifugal forces generated by the balls changes the contact angle at the inner and outer race. Ceramics such as silicon nitride are now regularly used in such applications due to their low density (40% of steel). These materials significantly reduce centrifugal force...

What is deep groove ball bearing?

Deep groove ball bearings are the most common types of bearings which are being used in a variety of applications. This type of bearing supports radial and a certain degree of axial load in both directions simultaneously. They are available in a variety of arrangement; shielded, sealed and snap ring types. For more information please click here “Products
